January 13, 2009 Steve Taylor Joins Cornerstone Real EstateTom Seeley, President and Managing Broker at the new and exciting Cornerstone Real Estate firm, announced that Steve Taylor has been named Vice President of Residential Sales. “This is an exciting opportunity for me to be involved with a start-up company on the ground floor,” Taylor said. “I wanted to be part of something that will be supremely successful.” In Steve Taylor and Tom Seeley, Cornerstone already assembled two of the most productive Realtors in Charlottesville. In 1994, Seeley sold over 100 homes and has been involved in excess of 1,000 transactions during his career. Steve Taylor brings an impressive background in both technology and real estate sales to the table. In Steve’s first five years in the real estate business, he doubled his production every year. He was regularly in the top five in his office at Real Estate III and won the coveted Charlottesville Area Association of Realtors (CAAR) President’s Award in 2005. “I have a strong background in technology, and that’s important in today’s market,” Steve said. “A report from the National Association of Realtors stated that more than 90% of all home buyers spend a lot of time doing research on the Internet before making a single call to a Realtor. Tom and I will put Cornerstone on the cutting edge of technology to attract buyers for our sellers and to find exactly the right home for our buyers.” Seeley and Taylor indicate that they intend to keep the company small and one with a low overhead. But the goal for Steve Taylor is not necessarily to make a transaction, but to build ongoing relationships with clients. “I want satisfied clients, those who will use me again and again and recommend me to their family and friends,” Steve confirmed. “That’s how I have built my business so far. I have developed a long and growing list of those types of people.” Both Steve and Tom believe that Cornerstone Real Estate will greatly benefit many buyers and sellers. “We are independent,” Steve said. “We are able to react quickly to changing market conditions and we will be able to give our clients more individual attention.” Steve sees good things on the horizon for the local real estate market. “It’s looking like we may be at the beginning of a recovery in the real estate market,” he predicted. “Inventory is coming down, as are interest rates, which are now at a 37-year low.” Steve said that Cornerstone Real Estate will always be up front with their customers even if it means walking away from a listing opportunity. “Properties will sell if they are priced correctly,” Steve emphasized. “We want our clients to know current and actual market conditions. We will do a full market analysis for every home we list, and keep up with the market prices, whether up or down. If a seller's pricing expectations are drastically out of touch with the market, I'd rather not take on that listing.” Taylor is active not only with CAAR but also with MRIS, the DC/Northern Virginia MLS system. This gives him direct access to many DC and Northern Virginia buyers who may be coming to Charlottesville , and Realtors who may have clients to send here. “People are buying and selling houses here,” he concluded. “In no way has Charlottesville been as impacted as have many states and areas across the country.
